What is a Special Enrollment Period?

Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs) allow you to enroll in an annual health plan outside the annual Open Enrollment Period.

You may qualify for an SEP if you’ve experienced a Qualifying Life Event in the past 60 days.

Your qualifying life event will need to be confirmed prior to your new health plan becoming effective.

What is a Qualifying Life Event?

A Qualifying Life Event can be many things but typically is one of the following:

  • Lost group coverage
  • Lost Medicaid or CHIP coverage
  • Getting married or divorced
  • Having or adopting a baby
  • Change in income level
  • Moving to a new area
  • Aged off your parents’ health plan
  • Gained US Citizenship

If you’ve experienced one of the events in the last 60 days you may be eligible for Marketplace coverage from BlueCross! Call to speak to a member of our team today to get enrolled.
